You will be making the pink background you see here. The brushes you need are downloadable in zip form. If you know who created these brushes please let me know, so I can give proper credit. They are ABR files from BABS 4PT. ![]() 2. Choose the Brush Tool, 3. Choose your color to work with. I have used #FF40FF in this tutorial. This is what we are going to make in this half of the tut. 4. Turn on your Grid or Ruler for help in lining up your patterns. 5. Line up your outside-brush edges next to the first brush pattern very close to, but not touching, the edge of the first pattern and the top edge. Click to put your second square down. Try to get the "star center" straight across from the first square as even and straight accross as possible. If you miss, try, try again! :) It needs to be straight across to make the seamless pattern work. You are going to make a big enough background that you don't have to worry about every square being "perfectly" placed. Also the more squares you do, the better you will get at placing them. :) 6. Finish the first row across. 7. Row 2 - Click in between your first-two squares, again not quite touching the ones above and left side, and click to place a square. 8. Now line your outside-brush edges up to almost touching the top-two sides and the one on the left for your next placement and click again. 9. Repeat for the third square and then use just the top left and left pattern to line up your final square for this row. 10. Row 3 - It's kind of obvious what you have to do now that the pattern to make this is already down on the background and you have done two rows. Keep working in between the squares until the 3rd row is complete. SECOND HALF - TO CROP YOUR SEAMLESS BACKGROUND 1. Click on your Crop Tool. Feel free to Zoom in at this point. Put the point of the crop brush just outside the "star center" on the left to start your crop and bring it down on a diagonal slant to the bottom-right corner just inside the "star center" of the next row pattern. Like this: 2. Move the crop lines so thay look like the sample provided. 3. Open another 400x400, white background and test your pattern with your "Fill" tool - Style set to pattern, (100%) and your created pattern as your choice. 4. Click the new background filling it with your new seemless pattern. HOWEVER: If your test pattern is a pixel or two off, you will notice it right away. If it is, click Undo (on your cropped tile and test piece), re-crop, and try again. When testing your seamless background for the 2nd time and all others, always choose the "new pattern" (not Current selection) in your "Style" patterns available. (There will now be two of your pattern). 5. Click Undo on your test background. You will have to be the judge of this as you are the one who sees what is off (or not). If you need to re-crop your pattern, Click the Undo arrow and Re-Crop until you are happy with the results. Do not feel bad if you have to do this a few times. It's precise work you are doing. 6. Test your seamless background again, choosing the new pattern for it in your "Style" patterns. When you are happy with the results of your test, Save As and give it a name! Once you have your main pattern, you may use the "Colorize" option in PSP to make it any other color shade that you would like, then Re - Save As with another name. CONGRATULATIONS |
